Acupuncture / Dry Needling

At our clinic, we understand that living with pain or restricted movement can affect every aspect of daily life. That’s why we take the time to understand you, your symptoms, your lifestyle and your goals before recommending any treatment. Where appropriate, acupuncture may form part of your personalised care plan for the management of musculoskeletal conditions.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into carefully selected points on the body. Within our practice, it is used alongside evidence-informed chiropractic care, manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises and tailored self-management advice. Rather than viewing acupuncture as a standalone treatment, we integrate it into a broader approach that is designed around your individual needs and clinical findings. However, you can book individual sessions.

Acupuncture is commonly used in the management of musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, muscle tension, joint discomfort and sports-related injuries. Following a thorough assessment, we will discuss whether acupuncture may be an appropriate option for you. We aim to provide care that supports your recovery, helps improve movement and function where possible, and enables you to return to the activities that matter most to you.

While research into acupuncture continues, it is thought that needle stimulation may influence the body’s natural pain-modulating processes and produce a range of physiological responses. As with all healthcare interventions, individual responses vary, and no treatment can guarantee a particular outcome. We believe that making informed decisions starts with honest conversations about the available evidence and the treatment options that may be suitable for your situation.

Many patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable acupuncture feels. The needles used are extremely fine, and while you may notice sensations such as warmth, tingling, heaviness or a mild ache, these are usually brief. Throughout your appointment, your chiropractor will explain each stage of the process, answer any questions you have and ensure you feel informed and comfortable.

Your safety and wellbeing are always our priority. Acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a suitably trained healthcare professional using sterile, single-use needles. As with any treatment, there can be some potential side effects, but we find this to be rare, these can include temporary soreness, minor bruising, slight bleeding or occasional light-headedness, all of which will be discussed with you before treatment.

Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing persistent musculoskeletal pain or looking to improve your movement, our focus is on delivering compassionate, evidence-informed care. Every treatment plan is tailored to you, with the goal of helping you move with greater confidence and supporting your long-term musculoskeletal health.
